The human sensory system serves as an interface for perception, which we have always relied on for subjective experiences to observe and understand the world, continuously shaping our cognitive frameworks. Humans see colors differently from eagles and move slower than flies; our anthropocentric perspective regulates our limited experiential frameworks in many ways. By creating devices that alter conditions of perception and extend human senses, we aim to explore alternative experimental audiovisual experiences and recording techniques over the two-day workshop, investigating the potential of sensory cinema.

During the two-day workshop, we will use imaginative approaches to create various sensory extensions, altering our perceptual relationship with the environment. These crafts, accessories, installations, and sculptures made from everyday materials will complicate our relationship with the surrounding spatial environment. These new constructs will provide conditions for different movements and cognitive functions, enhancing sensory abilities that we do not usually employ.

The workshop will also incorporate different methods for creating audiovisual experiments, treating the camera as more than a passive recording tool but as an immersive experience that plays with the concept of bodily/spatial perception.

The event is sponsored by the National Culture and Arts Foundation.
