Join us for a unique workshop experience that invites you to reconnect with your sense of touch, transforming the skin into an organ of thought and affection. Created by artist Wang Yung An, "Mind-Skin Code" is a haptic diary and communication system designed to deepen our sensory awareness in a world dominated by visual and auditory experiences.
This immersive journey is inspired by Wang's years of research in cognitive neuroscience, where she began to recognize the significance of the missing presence of the body and the often-overlooked dimensions in EEG experiments. In response to the accelerated pace of human-AI interaction, "Mind-Skin Code" opens a new way to explore the relationship between affection and data—creating a skin language that anyone can easily learn and use.
During the workshop, we will introduce Wang’s latest tool, the “Skin Cards,” alongside affective analysis models, inviting participants to delve into the textures of their own inner and outer sensory worlds. You’ll explore how to visualize and document touch, uncovering its potential as a shared language.
Workshop Structure:
Bring curiosity and a willingness to explore as we listen to the language of our hands, and the resonant soundscapes of others, objects, and the environment. Whether you're an artist, a sensory enthusiast, or simply curious, this workshop offers a chance to slow down and connect through touch in a profound and meaningful way.
